Parenting is the most important job a parent will ever have. It will likely also be the most challenging job that a parent will ever have, yet there is no formal training for the position of Parent.  Often first-time parents will leave the hospital with their newborn child with little to no instruction on how to care for their child except for how to buckle them into their car seat for the ride home!  Even after reading a number of the many parenting books available, parents still can feel overwhelmed. 

The Circle of Security (COS) parenting group offers a clear outline to help parents understand the needs of their child.  Furthermore, it gives parents an opportunity to understand how they can work towards meeting those 

needs.

Many people can remember being a child or a young person and saying "I will never do that with my children", yet it is very normal human behavior to repeat the same patterns of behavior that we experience ourselves.  This tendency to repeat these parenting behaviors is often subconscious, and we are often not even aware of these tendencies until we have already acted them out.  This parenting group is intended to help parents gain a better idea about what their behavioral tendencies are, so that they can incorporate choice into their parenting style.  WIth choice parents are then able to consciously build positive connections with their children and lay down the foundation for the development of a secure child.  

The program consists of a closed group that runs for 8 weeks.  During the program we use a video format that builds from week to week.  The video material focuses on infants and toddlers, but the information learned is applicable to raising children of all ages.  Parents who have completed the program will often share that the information they have learned in this parenting group has also helped them build stronger bonds in other important relationships in their lives.
